There is no magic. The XT has a different Color Change system and homes the
needle case in a different manner. The non-XT used the slots on the back of the
needle case through a sensor to tell it where it was at. The XT uses an encoder
with pulses out of it that is attached to the actual color change motor. It
sets home by acutally going past needle one and hitting a stop. Then it goes
back to the needle one position, then to the needle it left off on.
No way around it. The good news is the color change system was made to move
quicker in the 2007 release when it is released.
