Hey Dorothy: Yeah, this seems like a no brainer and would especially be useful to those of use who don't spend a lot of time doing complex digitizing. Essentially, the knockout feature would be a checkmark in a "Layer" of the design that said eliminate any layers below it and could be checked as on. Then it would intelligently evaluate the layers below it and eliminate them leaving maybe a 10% overlap or something. Melco folks - if you are monitoring this list - this is a MUST have. One other thing... Can we please get a button on the toolbar that stands for SEND DESIGN TO THE MACHINE? Or let us create shortcuts to our own most used commands on the toolbar? BTW, this would be a great topic for the discussion board - to keep track of a Wish List of features for the next Rev of design shop. Thanks for the tip! For now, we had to move ahead and are just sewing on top - which in this case turned out ok. Just a waste of time and thread. Embird does do this. I use this as my editing software until I can justity/afford DS. Editing for me is more of a point by point thing; I don't know the program that well but there is a wonderful feature that will do what you want automatically (it's called masking). I can do it for you if you want (I can't believe I can actually help someone). Just send me the file in exp format (unfortunately it won't read ofm). The process isn't perfect but it might help. BTW, embird is really inexpensive if you find yourself needing this feature often (_www.secretsof.com_ (http://www.secretsof.com) , $116--there is a free 30-day demo). Combining a Dakota Hawk with a Digitized letter "U" that will sit underneath the hawk. There are places that the hawk overlaps the U and I would like to knock those out of the letter. Is there an easy way to do that or do I have to go in and start editing points?
