Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Anyhow, what I have found is that I can play these files using a program called Winamp, which can be downloaded from: http://www.winamp.com Using that program, I am able to check my current location in a file at any time by pressing control j. This opens an edit box which displays the current time in minutes and seconds. Then, when I want to return to an audio file and resume where I left off, I can simply press control j, type the time into the edit box where I would like to begin, press enter, and I'm immediately placed at that location. I haven't yet found a similar "jump to time" command in Windows Media. Write if you need assistance in downloading or installing the Winamp player. By the way, I recommend everybody try Winamp out, it's generally a superior player to the others such as Real Player, especially in the keyboard access department. Good luck, Scott ----- Original Message ----- From: mandlcastner@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To: adaptivetec@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, November 17, 2005 2:44 PM Subject: [adaptivetec] Windows Media with Books Hi, Everyone, I posted this question before and received an answer which seemed reasonable, but when I tried the answer today it did not work. I download books from a source provided through our public library called Netlibrary. They play only through Windows Media Player. When I want to end a reading session, the reading resumes at the beginning of the book and it is very difficult to locate my place when resuming. It was suggested on this list that I use pause to stop the reading and that when I open Windows Media Player the next time, the reading will resume at the same position. However, even pausing the book does not keep my location. If I close Windows Media Player the next time the reading resumes at the beginning of the book. Are there any other suggestions besides buying a device like Bookport? Thanks for any other suggestions.
