Wednesday, January 12th Dear MoFed Members & Supporters, We had a great lobby day at the capitol today! We heard that Wayne Pacelle of HSUS was coming to town to visit the capitol, so we put out the word that breeders needed to come out in force, and that they did! The crowd was about 40 strong early in the day but by about noon had swelled to about 75 strong! It was great to see that many professional breeders there to visit with legislators to tell their story. Several Senators and Representatives took time from their busy schedules to visit with the breeders as they gathered in the Third Floor Rotunda. Representatives Tom Loehner, Darrell Pollack and Ed Schieffer addressed the crowd and answered questions. We met with Representatives Rodney Schad and Jason Smith outside their offices. Senator Mike Parson greeted the crowd to talk about his bill that would be filed today or tomorrow that virtually guts Prop B. Senator Stouffer invited everyone into his office where he talked to the crowd and answered questions. Smaller groups broke away and visited with their own legislators as well as others as opportunities arose. Several of us met with Representative Barney Fisher and Senator Brian Munzlinger who had just been appointed Chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee. It was a great day of lobbying and meeting with elected officials. It was great seeing so many professional breeders gathered at the state capitol to tell their story of how Prop B would affect them. Everyone looked good in their business attire and conducted themselves very professionally. We're quite proud of everyone who was there! Thank you for taking time from your busy schedules to join us! Wayne Pacelle of HSUS met with several Senators and Representatives, and from what we hear, did not get the exact answers he was wanting! A Senate Chief of Staff laughingly served ham sandwiches to the Senators in the meeting but Pacelle declined....Pacelle declined....<WBR>..... he's a vegan. The staffer s were just trying to be accommodating.were just twe Animal rights activists are swarming the hallways and HSUS has definitely invaded our capitol with their agenda. It will be a hard fought battle ahead but we will stand united to protect agriculture and our industry. We need each of you to get your impact statements to us if you have not already. We need you to locate your best pictures of your puppies, copies of letters and pictures from satisfied customers, and anything else you would be willing to share with your legislators. If you visit the capitol, bring them along to give to your Senator and Representative. If you can't come to the capitol, please mail them in a letter to your elected officials. Also include a letter that says all this will be lost if Prop B stays as it is. It is important that you tell your story about how important your dogs and livelihood are to you. Our side must tell our story! Again, today was a great day for breeders. Thank you to everyone who participated!
