HR 5422 federal debaking ban

Not a single cosponsor. The group that pulled off the debark ban in Mass
persuaded Ruppersberger to sponsor a federal version.

H.R.5422
Title: To authorize the Secretary of Agriculture to make grants for the
prevention of cruelty to animals to States that have enacted laws
prohibiting the devocalization of dogs and cats for purposes of convenience.
Sponsor: Rep Ruppersberger, C. A. Dutch [MD-2] (introduced 5/27/2010)
Cosponsors (None)
Latest Major Action: 6/18/2010 Referred to House subcommittee. Status:
Referred to the Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry.

The bill would award grants up to $1 million to states that ban
devocalization for use in public education.
