Hi Iain, You can put the blame fairly and squarely on Freeserve for being "thrown off" Freelists. And you will not have been the first. Along with one or two other UK ISPs, Freeserve are well known for taking their servers completely off-line without activating and form of backup server. The lists are set to something like 10 hard bounces before they automatically remove someone. By "hard bounce", I means where a response like, "not known at this domain" is returned. This is usually enough, but on busy lists, if the outage extends beyond a few minutes, it can trigger, so I'll see if there's a way of raising the threshold. George. ________________________________ From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Iain Lackie Sent: Sunday, June 10, 2007 7:26 PM To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: yahoogroups bouncing mail While we are discussing the problems of bouncing Yahoogroups, I think it should be said that at least yahoogroups doesn't unsuspend you from your group. On a number of occasions I have had to rejoin Freelist groups because for some reason I have been thrown out. In my view, this is even worse than what happens with Yahoogroups. I suffered with this for a number of years. You will I'm afraid just have to learn to live with it to a large extent. I have heard it said that one way of stopping it is to go to Yahoogroups website and change your password there. I fount that it does work to a greater or lesser extent, but you will never get rid of the problem entirely. My ISP changed their email server last December and since then I have not experience any bouncing mail with Yahoo, but this seems to have been the only cure for the problem. You might want to think about a different ISP, Possibly having Yahoo as your default Mail Service provider might help. Other then that I cannot think of any way of getting round the difficulty. It just seems to be part of life with Yahoo. For the last couple of days, I haven't received any mail from a group that I belong to, and Yahoo comes up with something about my mail bouncing. I haven't explained that very well, but I hope someone knows what I am on about. thanks Terry ________________________________ No virus found in this incoming message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
