hi guys, I posted on behalf of a friend sometime ago, about the problem he was having with his HP desktop system, and XP activation. The system had been given to him from a family member, and when he tried to boot-up, he got an activation message, but as he didn't have any software disks with the computer, and had no way of getting onto the Internet to activate XP, he is now snookered I'm afraid.

The HP computer system is a very old system he thinks, it used to have Windows 98 as a OS, and he would like to restore it back to 98 if he can.

This will probably mean a full format of the system, but he does not know how to change the bios boot sequence, to allow the computer to boot off the CD-ROM drive.

Is it like he thinks a full format of the system, or is there another way he can get this computer to work?.

He has a copy of Windows 98, and a 98 boot up disk if that is any good, but to use either, he has to be able to boot off the CD. Any advice or help with this problem would be very helpful indeed. He doesn't have any sighted help,
