John, there should be an option in winamp preferences where you can uncheck the update alert message. I don't use that program myself as windows media player is much more accessible these days, particularly the library, but you shouldn't have too many problems finding the option once you've opened the preferences menu.

Hi on my laptop I keep getting winamp update and all seems to be stuck. surely there must be an option sojewhere to stop this.? At 12:36 10/05/2008, you wrote:

I am interested that you say not to install the Winamp library. How do you then access your music, MP3 files, etc? I have Winamp, but haven't found it
very accessible, so expect I have done something wrong.

Hi, www.winamp.com is the place to get it. When it comes to installing the
latest Winamp, do not install any user interface enhancements, and do not
install the Winamp library. This way you'll have no problems accessing
Winamp with your screen reader. JAWS provides full support for Winamp, and
so does Window-Eyes the last time I checked, which was Window-Eyes 6.0. Hope

that helps.
