Hi Billy.
It's not drastic if your son or daughter needs to do work for college. I felt the same after I had an accident on my old XP laptop. I quickly purchased one with Vista, and I was able to work towards my degree again. So it's not drastic at all; it's in fact quite natural.
Take care.

Hi guys, sorry for the delay with this reply, but my daughter has been very
busy with her college work, and we have just gotten round to trying out all
the fantastic suggestions from the list.

I must just tell you all, we tried each suggestion at least a couple of
times, but we are sorry to say, none of them worked for us. The system just
kept trying to reboot after each time, but of course nothing happened.

Because of college work my daughter feels she cannot spend anymoe time on
this laptop, so she has decided to purchase a new system, wee bitta drastic
me thinks, but who knows.
Now we have a laptop lying around doing nothing.
Anyway, thanks for all your help,

Billy
