Sorry, should have suggested some positive alternatives rather than just moaning. For mp3s there is www.emusic.com, I think they specialise in 'alternative' music so probably don't do the major labels. There is Napster, and also I believe that the Itunes scripts that are available will soon support the Apple music store. Not mp3 I know, but better than nothing.
