Hi Peter, If you select the try before you buy checkbox, you will get rid of thoseedit boxes. They are for your activation code, which you only get when youbuy it. Using window-eyes, during the installprocess, there seemed to be a series of editboxes and even using the mouse keys I couldn't fathom out what they were.----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Nutt" <steve@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, August 07, 2007 9:41 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: computer housekeepingHi Peter,Can you be more specific? Everything is visible to Window-Eyes, so sayingscreen readers is not correct. I haven't tried the install with JAWS, so if you tell me what bits you can't read, I'll try to remember them, but no promises, as I am not messing with my installation <Smile>. Any ideas please?----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Nutt" <steve@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, August 07, 2007 8:47 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: computer housekeepingHi folks, Why not just buy Diskeeper, http://www.diskeeper.com. Then you can forget about defragging altogether and let Diskeeper do it for you. I can't recommend it highly enough. It defrags in the background while you are working, and I can honestly say I see no degradation in performance when it is defragging. In fact, the opposite. I find my machine is snappy all of the time now. Incidentally, it is also completely screen reader friendly, with JAWS, Window-Eyes, and System Access, the three I have tried it with. I once remember that, when JAWS used the authorisation disk, I defragmentedthe harddrive and lost the key, it went back into demo! Thank goodness wedon't use that stupid disk way anymore, remember how you had to backup the keys and all that! Can you disconnect from the net? If so you can safely turn off any firewall and anti-virus software. I personally haven't had to turn off thescreenreader, and of course if you do unless youve got some useful vision you won't know whats going on. Have you done a scan disk first? I can never remember which order those 2 things are supposed to be done but perhaps if you try that first it may help fix whatever is causing your defrag problems. It's a little confusing. It gets to around 10% and stops. Is there any reason why the existence of jaws, for instance, might causethis problem? I think it's a long running problem for me. My screensaver isn't on. But my Virus checker, Mcafee, is still on. Might this be the issue? Any system cleaning or tidying tips most appreciated.
