Just a couple of points.
* Is there another satelite provider? I don't think so!
* Will elderly people be forced to use there services? I don't think so
as they could use freeview or a cable provider where available.
Not being picky, just making the points as they may well mention them.

Subject: [access-uk] accessibility regarding sky services
Dear sir/madam,
As a recent subscriber to skys' range of digital services and being
visually impaired, I would like to put forward some hopefully
constructive suggestions, as to how sky could improve their services
for those with a visual impairment.
Firstly, remote record.
As a visually impaired user of Sky, I feel that ten requests per day is
severely limited from the sky.com website. A sighted user as far as I
can understand, are able to program their box for as many requests per
day as they wish, from the sky plus box itself, how would they feel
having to pay 25 pence per extra request after using up their ten
allowed via the website if forced to use the SMS services? I feel that
they would be disgruntled and move to Virgin or another satellite
supplier. Therefore I feel the website should allow unlimited
recordings within a 24-hour period.
Secondly, the box itself.
I feel that the sky plus box should be made speech-enabled, so that the
blind consumer can have equal access to the products and services of
Sky broadcasting. The fact that the blind person needs to rely on their
memory as no audible feedback is given when setting the box to record
or access menus or sighted assistance, does not give equal access When
the switchover occurs in 2012
Another sector of the population who we also must consider are the
elderly. Remember that elderly customers will be forced to use your
services, and what happens if they are going blind, and therefore can
not see the screen how do you as a company, expect them to utilise your
full range of services with a device that is visually orientated and
not designed with the blind and elderly consumers in mind?
A dyslexic population I feel, would also benefit immensely from your
talking EPG and or box.
I do hope that these suggestions find favour with yourselves and I look
forward to any response you may care to provide.
Yours faithfully
Mr William Lomas
