Margaret,
If you go into control panel and find the firewall, you can disable it.
It's a radio button.

Subject: [access-uk] Windows XP Firewall
Hello
Could someone please advise me as to how to permanently disable Windows XP
firewall. I have installed Sygate which seems to work well, but each time
I attempt to listen to something on the BBC, I get a visual message to the
effect that the link is blocked. I am asked if I want to temporarily
remove pop-ups for the site, and a sighted person has to click "yes" for
me, as JAWS doesn't read it out. Any help with this would be much
appreciated.
Many thanks.
Margaret Smith
