Oh it's not set to automatically update. As a matter of fact I knew nothing
about even needing to update till I had a problem with my machine and I was
in touch with NTL technical support. They asked me whether I updated. On my
answer they suggested that I updated it. I've only recently started using
98. This computer came with 95. I'm reluctant to do anything more with
this machine, as my goal is to get a new one with better specks and more
up-to-date stuff. Can't afford it though. that's the frustration for me,
especially as I want to use my pc for making music. But I'll stop now, as
i'm going ot.

Jillian,
Can you not go into ad/remove programs and uninstall the last update,
then
tell your computer never to upgrade again? I believe MS has no support for
Windows 98, so why you have updates automatically installed onto your system
is beyond me.
Alternatively, check your specs and see if you can manage Windows 2000 or
XP, keeping in mind that your screanreader might need an upgrade to that OS.
Window eyes are pretty good that way, so maybe you just need an upgrade to
a more updated OS?

Peter
