Is this problem happening with initial subscription requests, or with
replying to confirmation emails? If it's the latter, try subscribing via
the form on the list's web page on www.freelists.org. if it's replying to
confirmation e-mails that's the issue, have a look and see if the
confirmation messages contain a link you can click on to send your
confirmation.
