Thank you very much, Tink. I'll sort out my folders.

Barry

Barry,

If you go into Tools, Folder Options, View Tab and make sure you have
Hide Extensions For Known File Types, turned off, you'll probably find the
full name of the file you're worried about is, thumbs.db.

If this is the case, the file is a database, generated by Windows, to
hold all the thumnail images used when you view a folder in thumnail view.

It's certainly harmless, but I wouldn't know what the effect of deleting
it would be. A better solution, if you don't want it getting in the way,
might be to right click on the thumbs.db file and select Properties. Place a
check in the, Hidden, checkbox and OK your changes. This should hide the
file from plain view. If this doesn't work, or the box is already checked,
it may be that you have Windows set to display all hidden files, in which
case follow the steps from before, go to Tools, Folder Options, View Tab and
make sure that Do Not Show Hidden Files And Folders, is turned on.

HTH,
Tink.
