Hi Andy,

I note you have managed to delete one of the files since sending your message. I'm guessing you are having difficulty removing the other one because the Norton programme is still running. Try disabling it in Start-up and then rebooting. Hopefully, you should then be able to uninstall with Unclean.

Good luck.

Robert.

Hi Robert.

There are 2 files associated to Norton; Live reg Symantec Corporation and Live Update 2.6 Symantec Corporation. When I did an Alt A and selected Add/Remove on the first one, I was advised by jaws that

Live reg Symantec Corporation cannot be removed at this time because the following applications require this component: Norton Security and Norton Anti-Virus

I did an Insert F11 and noted that both are unchecked.

Any ideas please?

Best wishes.
Andy

Hi Andy,

When you've located the programme you wish to remove, hold down the Alt key and press letter 'A.' A drop down list will appear. At the top of the list is Change/Remove which is highlighted. Press Enter on it and then follow the instructions.

Good luck.

Robert.

Hi Robert and Kevin.

Thanks for the help guys. I've downloaded the programme from the JFWLite site and installed it. When I run it, I ampresented with a treeview of programmes and I can move up and down these, but how do I check the two Norton programmes which I wish to remove? When I land on each of them jaws announces unchecked and despite pressing the space bar, it remains unchecked.

Best wishes.
Andy

Hi Andy,

I had the same problem and was advised by someone on this list to
download
and install a free programme called 'Unclean.' It did the job for me
and
I've continued to use it ever since. You can get it from:

http://www.jfwlite.com/programs.html

Good luck.

Robert.

Hi all.

After trying out Norton for a few weeks, I have decided to go back
to
Sygate and AVG. I have turned Norton off and now wish to remove it
from
my system. However, within Add/Remove, Norton has no box for Remove
Programme. Just a single box saying Click here for Information.
Can
anyone please advise me how to get rid of Norton. I'd just let it
sit
there, but ever since turning it off, I get a DLL File not Found
warning
on boot-up.

Best wishes.
Andy
