Hello George,

Thank you very much for the advice and also sending the text file of the Wifi installation guide for our printer off-list. Although the manual is copied from the CD during installation, it is in PDF and unreadable with Hal 6.53.

Best wishes,

Clive Pallett

Hi Clive,

Without knowing the exact model number, or having a manual
to hand, my best guess is that you will need to make sure
that the printer is set up with its own IP address. I
presume that will be one of the functions done via USB.
Your Netgear router will also have to know of that address.

Once that's done, you should be able to remove the USB lead
between printer and PC, and allow the printer and Netgear
router to communicate. The printer will simply become like
another device on the system.

George.

Subject: [access-uk] Setting up a wireless printer

Hello listers,

We have just purchased an Olivetti Any_Way printer which
supports USB, wireless and Bluetooth connections. We have a
wireless Netgear router for our internet connection. Our
desktop PC has a wired connection to the router and my wife
and I have wireless connectivity on our laptops. We have
established a network connection to the printer which all
machines recognise. We are having trouble setting up a
wireless connection from our laptops to the printer. You
must connect the printer via USB to install the driver and
make subsequent changes.
We would like to have our laptops access the printer without
the desktop PC having to be switched on. We are wondering
if we need a cable from the printer to the router. The
printer has one USB connection. Any ideas where we go from
here? Thanks in advance for your help.

Best wishes,

Clive Pallett
