Hi Eleanor Thanks for your thoughts, I looked at the website you gave me, they have some very good offers, mostly vista unfortunately. It's just unfortunate that xp is still available but at a much higher price. I was offered a package with vista down gradable to xp but the company won't ship to France which for me is a bit of a problem. I could get it shipped to a uk address no problem but it's getting the laptop shipped over here. This could work out very expensive. I use hal and unfortunately avg is not very accessible. I am looking at single programs, I'll see how it goes. I have no vision apart from light and dark so I can't see the screen at all. I bought from a company on-line and bought a Hp for just over £500.00. It had Windows Vista but came with a downgrade CD to XP Pro. I am very pleased with the laptop. Only thing is you have to do the whole thing from scratch so to speak if you install XP Pro. I use AVG 8.0 Free but then I have some vision and no problem. I think Jaws was to make AVG 8.0 Free accessible but I am not a Jaws user. I know a lot of visually impaired people who use Avast once it is configured to be fairly accessible.
