Thanks David. I remember a charger such as you describe being sold a few
years ago for around £40. How much are they asking now and what types of
battery will the one you saw charge?

Not sure, but I think it is no longer essential to run them right down. the
older type of rechargeable batteries *I think they were NYCAD* did need to
run right down.  I saw on QVC the other day a charger which also charged
normal non-rechargeable batteries.  apparently they could be used up to 15
times.

anyone know of this?

I understand that some types of rechargeable batteries have to be completely
drained before recharging, otherwise the battery life is shortened. Is it
still necessary to do this with lithium batteries, or can they be topped up?
