Sorry Ali I should've explained better. Jaws Arabic is basically the same Jaws
version that you're using at the moment, the only different that Jaws Arabic
can read Arabic text when it encounters Arabic text in documents, emails, web
pages etc. Just like your Jaws now can read French or Spanish for example.
That's how I understand it anyway. If Acapela Arabic Voices can work with Jaws
without the need to purchase an additional special Jaws licence then all you
need to do is get any of the Acapela Arabic synths for £150 and you'll be ready
to go. I'm investigating all of these options and I can let you know what I
come up with if you like.

HTH,
Amro

  Thanks Amro,
I do not think I need to use Arabic jaws, what I need is capability of
reading Arabic text online, or, read Arabic documents. I am just wondering if
it is possible to use one of those Arabic synths with jaws, and it can read it
right to left?

  Hi Ali,

I'm checking with the Jaws dealers at the moment if the Arabic Acapela Voices
can work with Jaws out of the box. Talks Arabic and Hal Arabic are already
using these Arabic voices. Talks and Hal Arabic are sold by Nattiq Technologies
in Dubai and there web address is

  http://www.nattiq.com/index.asp

The Acapela Voices work with Jaws with no problems so it is likely that Salma
and Youssef voices of Acapela will work too. I know that a Jaws Arabic version
exists and it is sold by MediaLog in Beirut, but what I'm trying to find out is
whether one need an additional licence to run Jaws Arabic or just buying the
Acapela Arabic Voices is enough. You certainly will have to get a special
licence to use Hal Arabic which's not very cheep unfortunately. In any case,
Salma and Youssef work with NVDA the free, open source screen reader so that
can be a cheaper alternative.

I will write back when I have more info. As well, I'll be happy to chat on
Skype about this; it'll be nice to make new friends anyway! If you want my
Skype name please write to me off list.

  Salaam!
  Amro

    Good evening all,
I am little lost, I hope someone can shed some light. I am hoping to learn
Arabic, and, be able to read Arabic text myself. I use Jaws on Windows
platform. What I am not sure is this. Arabic characters are different to the
one we use, also, the writing goes from right to left, how can Jaws, WE or Hal
can handle it even if I have the Arabic synth installed?

    Thank you

    Ali
