Not sure if this helps but I have been recording telephone interviews uding a
little widget that I can plug either into the PC's Line In or into a cassette
recorder. At first I thought straight into the PC was great until I discovered
that Goldwave sometimes stops recording for no apparent reason. Now I record
onto the cassette recorder and then then use Goldwave to record it as an mp3.
It measn I sometimes have to change sides on the cassettes but at least I knoe
I am getting it all.

No idea why Goldwave is cutting out like this.

So, what quality should I go for and will I do better to record
externally first, or just use the computer microphone?

Carol, have you considered Goldwave?
This program would be perfect for what you want to do. Goldwave creates
high quality stereo audio files for streaming on broadband as well as
low quality mono files that will stream on 56k modems.

Subject: [access-uk] RECORDINGS FOR WEB SITE

Hi all,

I have been asked to produce a voice recording of some of my poems on
our ECHURCH-UK WEB site and have no experience of doing this. Well, I
do have some experience in recording and editing straightforward items,
which these would be, but am not sure what quality I should aim at and
what type of file I should produce and whether I should record
externally from the computer or just use the headset with boom
microphone which I have for daily telephony programmes.

Any help or advice would be most welcome.

Thanks.
