Hi Andy,

I certainly can't help you there, as I don't burn CDs using WMP. Of course,
you could always by winamp pro <Smile>, but it seems odd to me that Winamp
won't work for you. How 'bout contacting Winamp support?

Hi Steve -

Well, it doesn't seem to work for me, as whatever I use, that blasted
Digital Rights Manager thing gets in the way, so it looks like I'll have to
use Windows Media Player. I just hope you or somebody can help me sort out
how to burn discs from within Media Player, as so far I've spent ages
looking at it, but can't figure out how after clicking on 'burn' from the
file menu, I go about creating a playlist [if that's what's needed] for
burning. Media Player looks quite complicated with it's library, and
favourite playlists and genres etc, when all I want to do is select some WMA
and MP3 files, and burn them to CD!

Regards

Andy

Hi Andy,

I don't know about the free version, as I have the pro, but I thought the
free version would do it. Just change your plug-in, in preferences, to WMA.
To get to preferences, press Control-P.

Hi Steve -

Certainly, when I try to play the tracks in Winamp, I get taken to the
Windows Media.com website, where I'm told that "In order to play this file,
you need to upgrade your media player to a version compatible with Windows
Media Rights Manager V7. Select View Compatible Players", but when I do
select the view compatible players link, the Windows Media Player10 page
opens, offering me lots of links about the WMP, but nothing about other
players, so nothing about Winamp.

Can you advise me then, how to get Winamp to acquire the Licence for these
files? What am I missing?

By the way, if it's relevant, I don't have the pro version of Winamp, does
that matter for this purpose?

Andy

Hi Andy,

No, this is not right. Winamp will acquire the protection licence, and it
will play protected tracks, I do it all the time. You must have an internet
connection available to Winamp when it plays the track for the first time,
so it can acquire the licence, but it will do it.

Hi Steve -

My observations were pertaining to those WMA files bought from 7Digital.com
that require the licence to play them, which it appears is tied to WMP, and
as such can't then be played in Winamp; Have I got this right or not?
Further, I was asking for help in creating a mixed format CD using the
licensed WMA files and other mp3 files, using the burn option in WMP10, as I
couldn't see how to select the files to burn.

Hi Andy,

Excuse me? Winamp doesn't play WMA files? Mine does, so you must have the
wrong plug-in selected. I think you need the WMA plug-in selected as the
output plug-in.

Hi all -

Ok, I've bought my first tracks from 7Digital, and happy so far! However, I
want to be able to create a mix format CD, using the WMA files from
7Digital, and other MP3 files I already have. I can't seem to be able to use
Winamp for this as it doesn't play WMA files, so it looks like I'll need to
use the burn option within Windows Media Player. I've looked around the
menues, and at the help topics for WMP, but can't find out how to actually
get files ready for burning, it seems more confusing than Winamp, or Express
burn wich is really easy to use, but won't handle the WMA file extention.

All help apreciated.

Andy
