Hi Saqib, as Ibrahim has already pointed out the soundtrack is invariably turned down, in the case of the AD I've heard considerably so. If you can't understand how this could be unacceptable for people consider this. If a member of your family starts talking in a loud voice when you are listening to a programme would it not be unacceptable to you? They don't put soundtracks on TV and film purely for the benefit of blind people you know. Soundtracks are just as important to sighted people. They have the same right to enjoyment as you.

Hi John I'm not sure why you think that there may be an attitude problem onmy behalf. AD doesn't disrupt the program or the quality of the viewing soit's not to much to ask for it to be turned on. If I was the sighted memberin my family then I would switch it on with out any objections. -------------------------------------------------- From: "john coley" <johncoley@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, October 04, 2009 11:07 PM To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [access-uk] Re: PURCHASING A TELEVISIONI'm with you entirely Derek. Saqib, sounds like there's a bit of an attitude problem there. Don't your family count with you? Should the blind come first if so why? I get members of my family complaining about AD and I tell my children either they watch the program as it is or leave the room and me in piece. It does the trick. -------------------------------------------------- From: "Dean Wilcox" <wilcoxdean@xxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, October 04, 2009 7:01 PM To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [access-uk] Re: PURCHASING A TELEVISIONMy Parents bought a Techwood TV from Morisons, 32 inch I think and it alsohas audio description. Never heard about it before that so a nice bit of luck there. I haven't had much to do with it though as it is a family TV and I don't think AD would go down well with everyone. Can anyone point me in the direction of guides re what to look out for, from the point view of accessibility when purchasing a television? I want something capable of receiving free-view with controls/remote control which isn't a nightmare to navigate around. Any suggestions gratefuly received.
