Hi Derek In my own home everyone will have the same access to the TV program
and more importantly the same amount of info thanks to AD. The sighted will
not lose out if AD is switched on. So there for I can't even see it being a
burdon up on them. I wouldn't be so adimant in receiving AD in a cinema as
we are very much the minority aposed two me being one person out of 4 who
needs AD at home.

Hi Saqib
So are you saying sighted people have no right to say no to AD?
Should the blind come first if so why?
Regards, Derek

HI Dean you've got every right to watch TV and take as much info in as
possible as long as AD is available to the programs you watch. I get
members
of my family complaining about AD and I tell my children either they watch
the program as it is or leave the room and me in piece. It does the trick.

My Parents bought a Techwood TV from Morisons, 32 inch I think and it
also
has audio description. Never heard about it before that so a nice bit of
luck there. I haven't had much to do with it though as it is a family TV
and I don't think AD would go down well with everyone.

If you want audio description then all sony and Panasonic models have
this
built in although they rarely say so in the product descriptions even on
their own websites. I've just spent quite some time confirming this with
both companies.

Subject: [access-uk] PURCHASING A TELEVISION
Hi all,
I'm looking to buy a TV and am at a loss regarding accessibility.
Can anyone point me in the direction of guides re what to look out
for, from the point view of accessibility when purchasing a
television? I want something capable of receiving free-view with
controls/remote control which isn't a nightmare to navigate
around.
Any suggestions gratefuly received.
Thanks,
Kevin
