I have found that this scanner can be tricky to install sometimes. This is usually solved by downloading the latest drivers.
Also, when installing the scanner you need to make sure that you pplug the scanner in before you start. With other scanners such as those produced by Epson, you need to plug in the scanner when asked by the software or once the software is fully installed depending on model.

OpticBook 3600. It is a fantastic scanner. It is expensive, but it has a book edge, which means you can easily scan paperbacks, and it gets right to the spine. And at nine seconds a scanpassover a page, it is darned fast too. Org Subject: [access-uk] New Scanner For OpenBook Hello, I have been using an Epson Perfection 1660 with OpenBook 7 for severalyears. The scanner now needs to be replaced, and I would be interested to know whether anyone has bought a scanner recently for use with OpenBook orany other OCR package and whether it has been a success or not. I have had a look at the Freedom Scientific page of supported scanners, butthere must be about a hundred models listed and it is difficult to know which one to choose, although I imagine many of them are no longeravailable. So if anyone has any recommendations to pass along, that wouldbe a great help. Thanks, Caroline. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq __________ NOD32 2870 (20080212) Information __________ This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. http://www.eset.com
