Hi Douglas, I put the following into Google, which you may like to try yourself. Vista Failure to shut down +Toshiba (The plus Toshiba limits the search somewhat) There is quite a lot which comes up on the subject and Toshiba, so it might just be worth taking the proverbial bull by the horns and calling Toshiba themselves. However as an additional thought, which should not invalidate your warranty. Have you yet installed Service Pack One? Occasionally, instead of shutting down completely, the laptop "hangs" with the message "Windows is Shutting down" (or words to that effect) on the screen. Having no useful sight I am unaware of this, and unless my wife notices it I could easily leave it overnight or longer in this state and run down the batteries. A press of the power button completes the shut down process of course. I am wondering whether I would be justified in returning it to the supplier under the terms of the warranty or perhaps such behaviour is occasionally encountered with laptops anyway and I might as well put up with it. Thanks in advance for any comments, Douglas f course. -- Douglas Harrison ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
