Hi Chris,

Not any longer with Jellybean, both operating systems work the same, ie you
can tap anywhere.

All the best

Steve

With the iPhone you can either explore the screen with your finger to find
out where items are located on the screen. This gives you an idea how the
application or web page is laid out. Or you can simply flick left or right
to jump to the previous or next element. Think of flicking left or right as
the tab key on a screen reader. Once you have landed on that element, you
can then double tap anywhere on the screen to open that item.

The Apple devices are unique in being able to tap anywhere on the screen
once you have selected an element/button etc, you have to be more precise
with Android phones.

text, or perform any function? Hw does the phone understand what you want
to do, if you can tap just anywhere on the screen? I am not trying to be
obstinate, I just don't honestly know. Perhaps touch screens wouldn't seem
so intimidating if more of us blind were aware one could tap anywhere on the
screen to accomplish things.
