Hi Harry,
Just tried that and sorry to say that did not work for me.
What is worrying is the the welcome voice does nto speak when switched on.
If I could only the CD out, I could reload the firmware.

hi ibby i find that holding down play, eject when switching on the machine
sometimes works. i'll copy the users cd and forward it to you by the usual
means.

I turned the machine off last night, (including the mains)
Went to use it this morning flicked the mains on and switched it on and the
machine will not release the CD. Also, the voice did not say "Welcome to
victor reader classic."
Can anyone help, apart from resorting to the hammer?
