I'm not sure there is really anything we could call "Standard Equipment".
If you are buying from new, the latest is to the best of my knowledge around the 8 Gig mark.
But then again, by the time you read this message, it could have changed.
What make and model of DVD burner do you have in your system at the moment?
George.

Will most standard equipment take the eight gigs then?

Hi Martin,
Four Gigabytes. You're a shade behind the times! (Smile)
They're up to eight now.
George.

HI Catherine:
first of all, have you got a hardware dvd writer on board or externally? If not, you will not be able to write to dvd discs. it is a diffrent format to cdr/cdrw. the dvd format enables up to four gb of data to be written to one dvd. yes there are dvd and dvdr discs, and they work in a similar way to cdr/cdrw discs. hth
Hope to hear from you soon.
From Martin.
