Andy, know George is on the case, but I can tell you most card readers claim to handle no end of formats these days, including phone cards. How well they do this I don't know, but at any rate if you do go the card route then a reader that can handle the HC cards is best to go for.
Networking though is a slicker way of doing transfers, and if you can get your head around setting it up between your machines then you'll have a good solution.
Maybe it is easier in Vista, I don't know, but networking seems to be another black art. I've never come across step by sep instructions that are really easy to follow.
Cheers, Ray.----- Original Message ----- From: "Andy Collins" <andy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
Subject: [access-uk] Cards and card readers
Hi all - Need some suggestions about the best way to go with this. I have a Vista laptop with a built-in card reader which I haven't made use of yet, and anXP desktop. I can't figure out how to put my XP desk top and Vista laptop onthe network together in such a way that I can transfer files between them, so was thinking about perhaps getting a micro sdhc memory card with usb reader, and using it as a go-between for both machines.I don't know much about this subject, and am not sure what to go for! Woulda card with USB reader that works with mobile phones work for the above scenario? I'd be grateful for any guidance, and if anybody can help me get these 2 machines communicating without going the memory card route, that'd be even better! Many thanks - Andy ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
