Yeah Ali, I definitely understand. I wish I knew what character or something the BC used for markers, so you could mark a BC document directly on the PC, before transferring it to the BC. I had to read stuff for politics, and had to sit and mark everything on the BC, especially as the electronic file I got had a very stupid setup, because in the printed book it had definitions in little boxes going down the side of the page, the electronic file had all definitions and terminology at the top, so you'd be busy listening to the text, when it would be broken by long definitions, I had to make bookmarks at the beginning and end of the definitions so that I could skip them in some way. That's also why I'm really hoping that there might be some wonderful new feature on the Victor Reader Stream? I've heard you can somehow highlight text, that might be a great tool in helping to select passages for assignments, another problem a person has with the BC and Pac Mate. Does anyone know if the VR Stream will give us more advantages in moving around etexts?

Ari
I am trying all options available, but, no luck up to now. I definitely
need to put these documents into section navigation as I have to regularly
refer to them at court. I believe there is a format from TNAUK as .doc. I
am trying to find out what it is all about and if we could use it too.

I have no idea about daisy format and would not have a clue how to convert
.doc into daisy.

Thank you.

Hi Ali,
Unfortunately isn't this the whole problem of the BC, that you do lose
everything? I don't know if I'm right here, but you can have hardly any
formatting in .txt documents. BC can't even do html! Really quite
disappointed that it never got developed properly and it doesn't look like
being improved. I wonder if you could maybe somehow turn your doc files into
daisy, would that work, and how to do it?

Hi,
I have several .doc format files and I need to transfer them onto my BC.
However, if I transfer them as text files, I loos headings, page
formatting etc. I would like to keep the headings or the pages simply
to be able to jump from one topic to the other. I would like to use
the heading or page or chapter navigation on the BC. I know I can use
the bookmarking facility on BC, but it would take me years to set the
bookmarks. I also have K1000 if it is any help. Can anyone please
suggest me a way?

Thank you.

Ali
