Perhaps I read too much into your message, but did she actually move the
license back from the hard drive to the JAWS floppy master when the
reformat and 98 to XP and back again exercise was done?

Have you, or she, actually heard the HJAUTH.EXE program on the floppy
confirm that 5 installations remain?

Is the JAWS master floppy disk write protected?  If it is, unprotect it.

Have you tried manually moving an installation from the floppy using the
same HJAUTH program?

If the virus checker is off, and a manual move does not work, then I
suggest it's perhaps time to call Sight & Sound for technical help.
