Jacki,

Yeah, I think that is the problem across the board in general; there are so many choices; this one does this function, but that other one does not.... and the end user is always left having to settle for one that fits his/her budget; does the main things required, but not all they would like etc.

I am not saying Apple is perfect, but it looks as if they are heading the right direction.

Cost is an issue, but if upgrades are free, this helps, aws we cannot all upgrade software/hardware as often as we would like to, due to the ongoing costs of both.

Regards,

Mike

Hi Mike

As far as I know, Voiceover is one reader fits all. In other words, it's the same on all the devices that support it, that's what makes it so good in
that regard.

Kind Regards,

Hi,

Another question regarding the IPhone:

If you purchase the IPhone from Vodafone, on contract, do you get a "not as good" version of Voice over, as you do with Talks standard and premium
versions?

Regards,

Mike

Accessibility Features-- The Mac-cessibility Network - News [Lioncourt.com]

hi there I must I acquired my iphone in March and never thought I
would manage the switch over.
I still have my nokia e 65 as a stand by on pay as you go but It is incredible how cheap the apps are and once you have got over the learning
curve it is truly amazing.
I have the iphone 3gs 32 gig with a thirty pound per month with
vodafone with free internet.
some of my apps are
sky mobile tv which costs six pounds per month but I have eight sky
channels.
my big worry with the phone is the signal is not as good as it should be in some locations and the battery life goes down if you use wiffi
or other services.
I have gps on the phone mainly
navigon which is useable cost £60 or there abouts.
I also love ootunes radio which let's me listen to hundreds of radio
stations and they are so clear.
my other moan is lack of being able to listen to local football
commentary as it uses flash.
I must say though the signal and battery difficulties have been seen to with the new iphone and I understand in two weeks the big upgrade to my
existing phone is free.
voice over is great and though some apps are not accessible my overall feeling is apple deserves real credit for giving us access. whith the new version we have braille displays as well and we must
remember we are only at the start with the iphone.
hth.

I must say that this new iPhone sounds good. Problem
is I don't like touch screen phones but I'm very tempted if I'm honest!

Steve,

But have the apps I've tried if not more than that
with talks just won't

speak. Voice Over does tempt...

Hi Chris,

But Apple isn't the only game. Talks will let you
access touch screens, as

will Mobile Speak.

All the best

Brilliant idea. I applaud Apple for what they are
doing for making these

otherwise inaccessible devices accessible. I am
contemplating getting an

iPod Touch myself, and I can see my family be amazed
when I tell them I

can use a touch screen without sighted assistance.
