Hi
Knfb Reader is far superior to Prizmo in my experience. I know it's far more
expensive but if you haven't the luxury of sight available around you then I
would pay the extra. Lighting isn't a problem for example with KNFB.

Hi All
If you need OCR on an IPhone and you don't want to pay for KNFB reader I
suggest you try Prizmo. I forget how much it costs now, but it's a lot less
than KNFB. Like any OCR package the distance from the material being
photographed and the stability of the device is really important. I've got
some good results with Prizmo and some pretty poor ones too, probably
dependent on the print quality, font size, lighting etc.
Hope this helps, John

I keep talking about purchasing the KNFB app but the cost puts me off,

print. I liked the price of this but the general feedback doesn’t seem that
positive.

Hi Alison
Yes I bought this app the other week. It is ok, but requires time and
patience. What it does that K-NFB Reader doesn’t is allow you to move the
phone around in a live situation for information. I don’t think that when it
finds what you want, it reads it that well, but this is where practice comes
in handy. The bleeping frankly irritates me, but I find it does less if you
turn it off, or rather it gives me less feedback than I need!
I have kept it for the occasions when I might need something read out quickly
without having to constantly take pictures. Is it worth the dosh? Probably
not, but then that is subjective as it really depends on how much time and
effort you want to give to it.
Kind Regards,
Jackie Brown

Subject: [access-uk] Amedia
I was reading in this month’s edition of Access IT about an OCR app called
Amedia which only costs £22. Apparently it has many similarities to the KNFB
app. I just wondered if anyone had any experience of this?
