I'm glad you have found the answer, although I am perplexed that this is
necessary. But it works, and that's what counts!

--- Begin Message ---I've now done more experimenting and know what the Amazon problem was. I remembered that I have to go into the Tools Menu and turn "Active X Filtering" on if I want to use Youtube or the BBC Iplayer but I have to ensure that it is turned off if I want to listen to such as capcha images on Ebay to send a message. I'm sure that at one time this was not necessary but now,for whatever reason, it is. I have now turned it off and gone back to Amazon and the search editfield now opens up for use as it should. Problem solved!
