Hi Ray.
Thanks for your message and links to reviews. I have briefly attempted to
access these but cannot find any reference to the solo. I'll have a go
later this evening. I'm a bit disappointed to learn that the Solo cannot
play MP3 files. I'd had hoped that it would have been able to play mp3's
on both CD and DVD's. My friend has a Bosewave system that can play both of
these formats, enabling her to have many albums on a single disk. I
suppose I really need go and get that demonstration eh? I really want a
high quality hi-fi that I can access so perhaps a hand's on demonstration
will help me make up my mind.
The dealer in Glasgow originally advised that rather than purchase a home
cinema system, I purchase both the solo and a hd TV and plug them together.
He advised that the quality is far better. I suppose he is right, but I'm
not one for inserting CD's one at a time. I'd much rather feed my hi-fi
from my computer or have dvd's or cd's with multiple albums on each. I like
my friends Bosewave music system as she can have DVD and CD's with multiple
albums, but I don't like having one sound source. I like a left speaker and
a right speaker. Perhaps I'm old-fashioned that way" I'm also not
convinced that I can access the Solo without sighted assistance by using a
remote control. Also, I'm not sure if we can receive Digital Radio in our
area so the Solo's digital radio may be obsolete.
I've got about four or five weeks before I've got the cash to upgrade so
there is no hurry to purchase. However, I'm beginning to panic a little. I
don't wish to end up with something I cannot use or that is not fit for
purpose.
We really could do with a British version of PC Audio over hear to provide a
platform for people to discuss access issues relating to computing, radio,
and hi-fi.
Best wishes.
Andy
