[access-uk] Re: Accessing hi fi

Well, all I can say Andy is, if you are considering spending a grand then a
cup of tea should be no trouble for them to provide! But, seriously, it
does seem a, well, serious bit of one-piece kit.

What strikes me about it is the mini-jack accomodation on the front panel
for connecting Ipods and the like, the other being for headphones. Some
would consider that not very 'Hi-Fi' but Arcam is obviously plugging into
the download scene with these features. It also seems to have some sort of
computer interface, and that might just be your salvation for full access to
the beast, although don't bet on it! (Try using Arcam's website which is
very far from being accessable.) Same might go for any computer software
interface that's bundled with the Solo. In short a good talk through its
features and working through the thing is going to be essential.

Well, here's two links where you can read shortish reviews.

Hi Vince.

Thanks for that mate. Actually, a shop in Glasgow offered a demonstration
of the Arcam Solo attached to a 42 inch plasma HD TV. They have even
offered to make me a cup of tea when I visit. Originally I enquired about a
replacement hi-fi and a plasma and the salesman suggested this set up. It
sounds quite a good idea and I have done a little searching on the net. The
Solo has very few switches on the front panel so I'm thinking that it's like
the Bosewave music system, in the sense that everything is menu driven via a
remote control. I'm going to take him up on his offer of a demonstration
but it is important to me that I can access the system independently. I'll
have a look at the pdf tonight to see if it offers any advise but I'll not
get up for the demo for about 4 weeks. Thanks for the document.

Best wishes.

Andy
