The activation key will last till the RC expires, which is June 2010. From March 2010 till the expiry date you're limited to a 2 hour session before it shuts down. It will be much more reliable and stable compared to Vista.

Hi Chris, nice one thanks. Tempting. I've got jaws 10 pro so might just give it a go. Is there ultimately then a period when you have to pay if you upgrade or will the activation key you get permantly last longer than the 30 days? Also, have you found it any more stable than vista?

Steve

Hello, Windows 7 is not officially released; rather, it's a pre-released version. This means that it's free to download and use (you even get a free product key so you can use it beyond the initial thirty day grace period). Early betas showed remarkable success and will certainly take over Vista, in my opinion. In terms of access technology, there's some hope. Existing versions of JAWS, as early as nine, works pretty good, with little problems. The thing to be aware of is that due to code changes in Windows 7, it is no longer possible to access the list of system tray icons with JAWS key+F11; use Windows+B instead. I think that's all really, so download and use it at your own risk, and enjoy.

Is there a cost to upgrade from Vista home premium to windows 7? If so, how much and is there any benefits in upgrading? Is it functionally any better than vista? Is it more stable? And, what about that all important compatibility with Access Tech? I've got jaws pro v10 so a pro platform is ok.

Any views gratefully received!

Steve
