Hi, I finally set up my 486 laptop, and used the "Flash ROM" option to successfully program ROM banks 2, 3 & 4. It worked very well. However, it would be nice to have the option of using FLASHROM.TAP, since it is quite a hassle to do anything with the 486... Saving/loading from the iBook to the Speccy is much easier! Anyway, I have been doing some testing of the IF1 network feature. I set up the ZXMMC+ on my rubberkey 48K, and used the Sea Change ROM. At the other end, I used my real Interface 1 connected to my grey +2. First I tested simple network communications using PRINT # at the IF1 end and INKEY$#4 at the ZXMMC+ end. This worked perfectly (I had to remember to CLOSE#4 at the IF1 end to send the packed). It also worked the other way around, although initially I received a "R/W network error" at the ZXMMC+/Sea Change end. This seems to be due to changing between sending and receiving; probably a bug in Sea Change. After closing and re-opening the channel, it works. Saving/Loading programs was unsuccessful with this setup; I think this is due to an incompatible protocol between the IF1 and Sea Change ROM. Next, I attached the ZXCF+ to the grey +2 with IF1. I installed Sea Change with ResiDOS, and then tested LOAD/SAVE with a couple of simple programs. Again, it all worked perfectly! A SCREEN$ also transferred correctly, although the receiving end didn't stop receiving until BREAK was pressed. This is probably a Sea Change bug, of course.
