Friends,

With the start of the New Year (despite waning media coverage), let us remember the plight of those suffering from the South Asian earthquake.

Harsh winter in the Himalayan region is causing a second wave of deaths. To date, over 3 Million homeless...160,000+ dead/ injured...an entire generation of children wiped out…

I encourage you to take 5 minutes to view an earthquake video that was shown at the International Donors' Conference in Pakistan that gives some sense of the situation at http://www.serendip.tv/ earthquake.htm

Please keep the message alive and pass this on to others.

For those interested in taking action, the email below outlines an opportunity to support this cause further.

Khadija

Subject: Message from SAQUAKE.ORG - Support earthquake relief and raise awareness - buy earthquake relief bands

Dear Friends:

We are writing to let you know about a new initiative that saquake.org

is participating in, to help raise awareness of the recent South Asian

Earthquake. A group of people in Boston have ordered green wrist bands

and key chains which are inscribed on the outside with "EARTHQUAKE

RELIEF. Oct. 8th, 2005". This is aimed at raising awareness about the

earthquake relief needs in general, as well as raising crucial funds

that will be used in the earthquake affected areas of Pakistan. The

funds raised through this initiative will be donated to Developments in

Literacy (DIL), a member organization of our alliance, to set-up and run

much needed camp schools in Mansehra (NWFP). DIL also has plans to start

a primary school project in this area once the villagers start building

more permanent homes.

Each band/key ring can be ordered for a donation of $5 each, plus

shipping & handling. Please visit our website at www.saquake.org, and

under the "DIL's fund-raising campaign for schools" section, click on

wristbands/ key-chains. This will take you to the saquake2005 website,

where you can place your order.

Please show your support for the earthquake relief efforts by wearing

the green band, and please spread the word to your friends & family. You

can also order the bands in bulk and sell them through schools, health

clubs, work place, etc.

Regards

SAQUAKE.ORG
