Hi Louigi

The "fluid" package is the editor with gui for the lightweight toolkit fltk.

yoshimi-0.057.1 and yoshimi-0.056.1 both compile with fltk 1.1.9 (Note the fltk 1.1.10 abd 1.3.0 have different apis - only Cal can say whether yoshimi will build against the newer fltk versions).

The necessary packages on fedora 12 are: (Ubuntu will most certainly definitely have other names for the same packages)

BuildRequires: alsa-lib-devel
BuildRequires: cmake
BuildRequires: fltk-devel
BuildRequires: fltk-fluid
BuildRequires: fftw-devel
BuildRequires: fontconfig-devel
BuildRequires: jack-audio-connection-kit-devel
BuildRequires: libsndfile-devel
BuildRequires: mesa-libGLU-devel
BuildRequires: mxml-devel
BuildRequires: zlib-devel

After unpacking the source packge the following usually works on a 64-bit machine:

pushd src
cmake . -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr/lib64 -DDEFAULT_MIDI=alsa
make
make install
popd

Guys!

I have been tackling Yoshimi for months and haven't been able to compile it even once. I would like to put an end to this and so write directly to this mailing lists in hopes of getting a solution that will explain once and for all how to compile this software.

This is the topic where people try to solve this but with no result:

The main problem seems to be some mythical fluid package. What it is - nobody knows. We tried installing anything that has "fluid" in the name from our synaptics, but nothing helps.
We would be very helpful for any hints. And I apologize for the tone of the letter, but I am kinda frustrated. One of the best Linux synths and nobody can compile it.
