Hi Folks, The seventh edition of the X.500 series has been completed and is now in the hands of the ITU-T editing team. It is therefore time to consider further action in this area. At the latest SC6 meeting, a project split was accepted allowing us to continue the work on communication enhancement within ISO and thereby also within ITU-T. The major item during the previous period was to ensure interworking with LDAP. I believe we have a sound approach, men the procedures has primarily been developed by a single person under extreme time pressure. They urgently need a careful review. In addition, current, standardised LDAP controls should be also be considered for the interworking. It may even be desirable to develop new LDAP controls, possibly using X.500 OIDs. They could later be documented in an informational RFC. In particular, we need to consider how interworking is affected by Password Policy. This has not been considered at all. It may require specific LDAP controls, extended LDAP operations, etc. It could be the basis for a Password Policy RFC compatible with the X.500 one. Regards, Erik
