At the meeting with WCC before Christmas we agreed to invite the wider sector
to join in this work. I have circulated the message below to colleagues on our
mailing list to extend the coverage. Please pass the message to any other
colleagues who can contribute to the working groups.

Before Christmas a group of members from VCS organisations met with colleagues
from the Council to explore how we can work together. The Council have
identified four key areas they would like to focus on and have proposed dates
for the first meetings of the working groups.

The purpose of the each group is to…

*       Develop an ongoing and evolving relationship whereby the VCS and the
County Council in Worcestershire collaborate to achieve better outcomes around
the focus area.
*       In the first instance, this will include:

*       Develop a shared understanding of the need
*       Identification of what each party can contribute to developing a
solution(s) to meet this need
*       An exploration of potential solutions
*       Identify who else needs to be involved

Working Group

Date of first meeting

1.       Connecting Families

9 Feb - 1300-1600hrs venue: tba

2.       Children with disabilities and transition to adulthood

15 Feb – 0900-1200hrs venue:tba

3.       Joint Influence of STP

tba

4.       Enabling an older, more fragile population to lead healthier longer,
more independent lives

tba

These focus areas extend across the VCS and many groups may be able to
contribute. (Connecting Families has been successfully piloted in Redditch and
it is planned that it will be rolled out to Bromsgrove, South Worcestershire
and Wyre Forest by the spring or early summer.)

Unfortunately I don't know what the commitment might be but it would be good
for colleagues from across the sector and county to get involved to ensure that
the focus is on the best solutions for those in each focus area. Please pass
this on to any others who may be able to contribute.
