Hi Everyone,
I wanted to remind you that if you are attending the October 13th meeting at
UB to contact me kkohl2@xxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:kkohl2@xxxxxxxxxxx> and let me know
that you are coming so I can send you a parking pass. In your email please
include the address I should mail it to and you license plate number. In
addition to the meeting at 3:00 our office is hosting an AHEAD Webinar entitled:
Residence Life and Students with Autism
Jane Thierfeld Brown, Ed.D., College Autism Spectrum
The prevalence of students with autism has significantly increased the number
of neuro diverse students on our campuses and in our residence halls. With this
diversity comes a need to identify the barriers those students face and
establish systems, policies, and strategies that ensure that all students have
meaningful, equitable living experiences. This webinar will address issues
important to residence life staff, disability resource staff, and all students.
We will discuss complicated conduct issues and consider ways to remove the
stigma often associated with neurodiverse behaviors and disability.
We can fit 12 people (14 if we snuggle in). Please contact me by October 6th if
you plan on attending.
Thank you everyone and have a great week!
Please note: We’ve moved! Our new location is 60 Capen Hall, just steps down
the corridor from our old location at 25 Capen.

CCDA Monthly Meeting
September 8, 2016
LDA
1. Welcome and Introductions
2. College Night
• College Night is October 19th. We have one meeting until the event
(Oct. 13). It is important for members to attend this meeting!
• Anyone with a table will cover their table at the beginning. We will
pull covers off the tables when we get to the student zone/college info table
sessions
• Baskets: We will make about 5 baskets and create them from a
collection of materials that people are able to bring in. If each school can
bring in a couple of items to go into a basket, that would be great.
• Colleges need to make sure their one-sheets are updated. Most college
sheets are in the Dropbox folder.
• Discussion about looking for other venues for College Night in the
future, as UB may not be able to host due to staffing changes.
• The program for College Night begins at 5:45 and registration opens
at 5:15. Please arrive between 5 and 5:15 for setup.
3. Spring Training
• Voted to wait until 2018. No training this spring 2017 semester will
be held.
• Mention from members about how for the K-12 setting it’s more
appropriate for every other year.
• 18 months for planning-at the next meeting we will set chairs/group
to start planning
4. November DSC meeting
• Kristin Harte will be attending
5. Other Important Notes
• The next meeting on October 13th at 1:30 will be held at UB in 60
Capen Hall (Kristin Harte’s new office area). Please RSVP directly to Kristin
at kkohl2@xxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:kkohl2@xxxxxxxxxxx> with a mailing address, and
she will send a parking tag and campus map/directions.
• After College Night the focus of our meetings can change to work more
collegially, doing trainings, etc.
Next meetings:
October 13 at 1:30 UB
November 17 at 1:30 LDA
