Dear club colleagues, we had a great turnout for our club meeting last night,
and developed many options for events through this year and our current
spending plans.
While more details of the activities will be formalised over the coming weeks
and months, I want to share a couple of the matters discussed with all members
now.
Firstly, while I for the most part arrange our monthly presentations, I asked
last night for members to pick up a couple of meetings for which they will make
the necessary arrangements, with support as required.
While I had one member volunteer for the October meeting, I am still looking
for someone to pick up and plan for the May one. This would be your topic,
perhaps not strictly radio related, for which you may have an external speaker
or present it yourself. Please give this your consideration and let me know if
you might do this meeting, or any other one that suits your timing during this
year.
The other matter we discussed followed on from the initial discussion at our
December meeting, where we talked of spending plans for 2017, and in particular
with regard to a replacement VHF linear amplifier and pre-amp.
After fully discussing the options as outlined in December, and subsequently
laid out in the criterion on ProBoards, the members present last night
unanimously decided to pursue purchasing a 300 watt linear and pre-amp for
144MHz, and the same for the 432MHz band.
These items are from the Gemini range by Linear Amp (www.linearamp.co.uk) and
would be used to support the club in its contest activities and also be
available for any demonstration or special events the club might engage in.
The reason for sharing this information is to keep all members informed of the
decision, and to ensure that the members present last night have not overlooked
any alternatives in their considerations.

it was requested for any comment/feedback you might have on this matter to be
shared on ProBoards by the end of this Saturday the 14th of January, after when
the purchases will otherwise be made.
