Hey folks It's been a while since bring on, bits and pieces of sightings come and go, including the adding of 5 species Saturday morning, to make my county list for May 160 species even. A stop at Uihlein Marsh gave me Yellow-headed Blackbirds, Black Terns, Yellow-thr. Vireo, Eastern Wood-pewee and the inquiry bird, Marsh Wren, which segues to the following question.......where are they all?! As well as Sedge wrens, which I heard and saw NONE!! What is the status of these 2 species. It's really bad this year, when I normally hear them everywhere around this time in the marsh. Feedback on this would be great. Visits to Calumet County proved nicely recently. Had a walk to the closest woods this past Tuesday, when pishing resulted in House wren, chickadees, downy woodpecker, great crest flycatcher and the kicker, Canada warbler. Heard a Pileated Woody yapping in the woods farther south. A visit to a hotspot earlier this month, Abbey Park, was astoundingly dead aside from a few basic warblers and a Philadelphia Vireo, making my vireo species count to 6 for May. While pishing in the warblers a hummingbird joined in. I also have stopped at the beach a few times by Menominee Park and have seen the same as Pete Fissel, nothing more nothing less. Excellent finds up in Door County to you folks. Best of luck elsewhere.
