Last Sunday, Dec. 13th, there were 5 Short-eared Owls flying between the observation deck and the ATV area at Bong in Kenosha County. That was around 3:00 pm. Later around 4:15 pm., one Short-eared Owl flew pass the truck in the same general area. The next day 4 of us birders looked for the owls in the latter part of the afternoon, but saw none. Two of us stayed until 5:00 pm. (after dark) and still did not see any Short-ears.
