Hunted Pool 7 and Lake Onalaska bottoms. Tremendous numbers of tundra swans and canvasbacks. So many that duck Id was paramount especially if your 1 bird/ day limit on cans was already met. My dad felled a nice drake can and before retreival could be made, a bald eagle came in and took ownership- that is a first!!! Many longspurs, snow buntings, pelicans and a decent red- tail flight yesterday afternoon when winds went NW. Also decent numbers of snow geese. Duck spp. Included all the puddlers, including bw teal and woodies. Divers included all the bay ducks as well as hooded mergs, buffleheads, ring- necks, etc. Flushed late A. Bittern tromping through cattails. And as always during duck hunts, gorgeous mornings and glorious sunsets. The bag is merely a bonus.
