On our way back from the Twin Cities today. We decided to take the river route home. Little did we know what hazards we would face. Just south of Lake City MN we noticed most of Lake Pepin was open and on the remaining ice were many bald eagles. At one point a juvenile eagle came flying up from the lake and from the bluff side came flying in another, they met just over the highway and kind of did a talon joust. At this point they were about 100’ in the air, then I saw something drop out of the sky thinking it was probably just a loosen feather, but also noticed how quickly it fell. Well it landed about 20 yards ahead of me…It was a carp/sucker about 12 inches long, landing right on the dividing line of the highway. Nature is a dangerous place indeed. :) Jeff Bahls Lowell WI Dodge Co #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
